As a high schooler, I can say that this book is full of great wisdom that I wish I would have had during my 5th/6th grade years... the awkward stages for every kid.
All Things Girl: Friends, Boys, and Getting Along addresses a wide variety of topics ranging from true beauty, finding good friends, how to deal with mean girls and gossip, and the world of dating and guys. I think it's a perfect resource for any girl between 9-11, who is trying hard to find who her friends are, discover her inner beauty, and realize what role Jesus should really be playing in her life.
The book's central theme is that all girls are "princesses" of Christ. While I thought this was an excellent message and great information, I think at some points in the book they ways that it was presented seemed a little too young for the age group that the book was reaching.
It reminded me a lot of some of the American Girl books and magazine- which I loved growing up. The book is filled with great reflections, quizzes, prayers, and stories that pre-teen girls can relate to and learn from. It enforces the belief of loving, not judging other people, and reminds girls to uphold their dignity and love who God made them to be.
If you have a daughter, niece or granddaughter who is a pre-teen, this would be a perfect Christmas or birthday gift for them!
It's always great to have someone remind you that you're beautiful, made for more than this world, and have a lot of potential. Sadly, though, many girls don't here this often enough. This resource is 100% Orthodox, awesome at explaining, and perfect for pre-teen girls.
