Perfect for everyday, even if you can't get to daily Mass.
At first I wasn't sure if Magnificat Magazine would actually be worthwhile for me. I don't typically go to daily Mass, and I can always find the readings for Sunday Mass online. I'm glad I put those thoughts aside and gave Magnificat a chance.
I did not anticipate opening it every morning for the morning prayer. Taking a few minutes during the day to enjoy the daily Mass readings was the prefect little break in my day. I looked forward to ending my day with the evening prayer. Having these pieces to guide me through my day helped me become more aware of where God was during my day.
I have noticed a big difference in God's place in my everyday life. God used to seem almost as an after thought. It could be easy to forget to keep God in the center of my day when I was running around taking care of children, cleaning my house, tending my garden, and doing my best with my own education. The Magnificat was a great way to start the habit of pausing at least a few times a day to give God my complete attention.
Beside the everyday benefits, there was an amazing benefit to having this during Sunday Mass. On a typical Sunday either my husband or I have a hard time actually hearing the readings because we're busy with the children. This gave us a wonderful solution to that problem. I just brought it with me to Mass and the one who was busy with the children could read whatever they missed. During the few moments between readings it was easy to catch up. If we couldn't read them during the Mass it was just as easy to catch up while the children ate a snack and played with their friends after Mass.
I can't say enough about the benefits I found in this. I would recommend it to everyone who would like to have daily prayer and readings even if they can't make it to Mass every day.
